Astrology : You are The Universe
I am a big fan of astrology. I read about it, I watch videos to learn more about it and I follow astrologers on social media platforms.
Was I always like that? The answer is No.
I thought astrology was completely a waste of time, and a trap! when I read my astrological sign predictions on newspaper, I would feel lied to and taken absolutely for a fool, but I would feel drawn to read the predictions for the next day! It was a trap! I hate it but I was still curious to know about the future.
Astrology and I were in a love hate relationship until the recent lockdown, when I learnt a new magical word : ascendant! And my perception about astrology was forever changed.
What does an ascendant mean? and what does astrology mean? let me take you on a little journey to understand how this science can help you understand your life better.
Origins of Astrology
Astrology is a very ancient science, our ancestors used it to predict the weather, to predict wars and to have a feel about the energy field of the earth. It originated in Mesopotamia, then spread to India and Europe, then returned to the Middle East by the rise of Islam.
Astrology is also a pillar to dive into spirituality in many religions, including Islam Shia and Kabbalah. It gained popularity after kings and rulers started using it to guide their decisions.
You might say now, this is absolutely foolish, planets has no effects on us whatsoever. I hear you, let’s decompose this belief together, shall we?
The Moon
The moon and our planet exerce a gravitational effect on each other, and this caused the ocean – about 1.35 billion trillion litres – to bulge out and create hight tides and low tides.
How about our human bodies? how the gravitational pull of the moon, that moves the ocean, cannot have an effect on 42 liters of fluids on our bodies (an average adult weighing 70Kg would have approximatively 42L of fluids in the body)?
The moon have an effect on our bodies, on our moods, on our emotions and on our level of focus. And so are the other planets. Any planet or star that have an effect whatsoever on earth, has necessarily an effect on every living being on earth, including humans.
We are connected to all living things in the universe.
The Cosmos energy and the events of life
Astrology explains the connection between the movements in the universe and the events of our lives. Nothing is a coincidence; every slight movement in the universe leads to a specific circumstance somewhere on our planet.
We can explore our connection to the universe by looking at our natal charts. Those explain the cosmos energy at our time of birth.
When we are born, we’re taking in a grasp of the cosmos energy the minute we’re out of our mothers wombs.
Planets movement, their placements in the sky, and how they’re affecting each other define the cosmos energy.
The Natal Chart
The natal chart is a snapshot of the cosmos at your time of birth. The cosmos energy is imprinted within you the day you were born, and this is what you’re taking with you throughout your life.
Are your life circumstances predetermined as a consequence? Not exactly! Your deepest fears are! The energy we are grasping from the universe, is imprinted in our cells, and it defines the challenges we’ll be facing in life, and the strengths and the weaknesses of our personalities.
What is entirely in your hands is how you react to the events of life, how you use your strengths and how you deal with your weaknesses.
Your natal chart would give you more clarity about your personality characteristics, what is easy for you to do, what is more challenging and how to overcome it.
It is not only related to what your astrological sign is, because the natal chart depends greatly on your time of birth, that’s what determines the energy imprinted within you.
The magical concept : The Ascendant
How astrologers use your date and time of birth? they use it to determine what they call ascendant – 1st house – and from that they define all the other houses.
Ascendant is also called rising sign. The rising sign is different from your sun -normal – sign. You might be a Pisces but your rising sign is Taurus or Aries or any other sign, depending on your birth time.
Your rising sign reveals the personality traits and how you present yourself to the public. It also represents how you perceive and interact with reality.
What’s more, your rising sign determines the chart ruler – the planet that has the most impact on your life.
To make it simple, you might be a Pisces sign, and your friend is also a Pisces. Both of you were born the same day, same year, but in different times of the day. Both of you have the same astrological sign but you still feel your personalities are completely different, maybe one or two traits are similar, but the rest is profoundly different.
Why is that? because you have very different natal charts! You captured different energies from the cosmos the day you were born.
Let’s say because of your time of birth, Pisces will be in your first house, and that’s what we call « ascendant ». That means you’ll have incredible power in reading people energies and you’ll have a high level of empathy to a degree when you can be selfless.
However, your friend will have a different natal chart because they have a different birth time than you. Let’s say after analysing their birth chart they found out that Pisces is actually on their 11th house – their ascendant is Taurus. This means that they will be more rational about others, though they can experience some empathy towards them, they won’t reach the degree of being selfless towards the world. What they’ll experience though is an illusion about friendships, they’ll tend to be very forgiving towards their friends and sometimes even naive when it comes to which friendship serves them and which don’t.
Astrology can help
From the above example, you can see how two people, with the same date of birth but different birth times, can have completely different personality characteristics and very different life challenges.
By analysing your birth chart, you can explore your reality from a new perspective, and help get more clarity about your strengths and personal growth path.
Astrology can be a wonderful tool to help us understand our life patterns better and to give us guidance to make better decisions. I mean when you look at your natal chart, you realise you are not a zodiac sign, you are all the zodiac signs at once, you are the universe in one particular moment. That’s how powerful you are, you are the universe!
